Una Voce Report (Latin Mass) - November 5, 2008
Dear All:
Here are some updates:
I received congratulations from a member of Una Voce Los Angeles (UVLA), and we are all invited to their meeting on the second Sunday of November (November 9). It will be at Santa Theresita Hospital in Duarte, after the 10:00 AM Latin Mass, 2nd floor, blue room. The contact person is: Mr. Rene 310-641-1049 (http://www.unavocela.org/)
- There is a meeting this Friday on the production of the Latin Mass DVD by a group at San Secondo D’Asti, it is at 7:30 PM around the Guasti area. Contact Mark Lysecky if you are interested in this project: markol91784@gmail.com
- Mark is also getting petitions going to try to get daily Latin Masses at San Secondo, as either the 6:30 AM or 8:00 AM Masses. Contact him if you can make it there daily, regularly to support this Mass.
- I went to Mass today and a priest was among the congregation, and he is retired. I spoke with him for about 15 minutes after Mass and he is willing to study the old Latin Mass again. Last year, a friend brought him to San Secondo D Asti to visit Fr. Marx and he helped distribute Holy Communion, and I had the pleasure of receiving Holy Communion from this priest. He remembered the old prayer the priest had to say for every communicant, “Corpus Domini nostri Iesu Christi custodiat animam tuam in vitam æternam. Amen.” He asked how many people I have interested, and his eyes lit up when I said, there are over 100 people in San Bernardino. He said, “And they thought Latin was a thing of the past, a thing of the middle ages”. In any case, there are a few things that need to be taken care of first with regard to faculties, and then we can move forward. He wondered how young priests can say the old Mass, since they don’t ever get Latin, and he took 8 years of it. Anyway, that’s another priest on the list. You will forgive me for not mentioning priest names. The traditional movement has enemies lurking around, itching to throw their diabolical wrenches in this process.
- We are still trying to set up a time for our first Una Voce San Bernardino meeting on the last week of November. If you want to come, vote for a time: http://doodle.com/wzv2xeru5wrnrxb7
