UVSB-2009-01-02-Latin Mass DVD Meeting Report

UVSB-2009-01-02-Latin Mass DVD Meeting Report

Tonight, Carlos Lopez and I went over to Rancho Cucamonga for a meeting of a group which formed to work on a project to produce an instructional DVD on the Latin Mass. This group is not operating under the Una Voce SB label, but the group will certainly be working with various Una Voces in the US, including our local chapter. The meeting lasted for about 2.5 hours. We are currently going over the text of the voiceovers for the various parts of the Mass. Some things we need to do before we meet up again next Friday is:

Read over the rest of the prepared voice over texts and make comments or suggestions for modification.
Build up a list of priests who we could contact to see if they are willing to work on this project with us. Find out the canonical restrictions which we may need to be familiar with to continue this project, i.e. Imprimaturs, visiting priests and Masses celebrated.
Develop a list of possible names for our group.

The group wishes to produce this video, and distribute it for as little cost as possible, possibly even for free, or at the cost of production.

Una Voce LA Retreat

As a reminder, on January 10, Una Voce LA is having a retreat with a Latin Mass with Father Robert Bishop, CMF at St. Therese Church in Alhambra, from 10 AM – 3 PM. I will be carpooling with Carlos, and if I am not mistaken, Meryl Bravo and Dana Cash also want to join us. We have room for 3 more people in the "trad bus" (Carlos' SUV). Let me know if you want to come with us. The cost for Una Voce LA is $10, and if you wish to toss a few gas tokens to Carlos, that would certainly help.

DVD for Priests on the Latin Mass

I have contacted FSSP Publications to see what the status of the DVD's ordered is for priests who want to learn the old form of Mass. They referred me to Keep the Faith, and I have sent them the same email. If they will no longer honor our requests for the free DVD's, then I will purchase 2 sets of the DVDs myself, and offer one for the priests to borrow.

Una Voce San Bernardino Website

It has been designed, but Jo Seno is still working tirelessly to fill it up with all the last touches. We still need a Mission Statement, but my working mission or principal aims of Una Voce SB revolves around 3 things: (1) Asistare – Assist priests who are willing to celebrate the old form of Mass; (2) Providere – Provide resources for the lay faithful and priests to understand more fully the history and ceremony of the extraordinary form of the Roman Rite; and (3) Educare – Educate the lay faithful about the theology of the old Mass. Those are rough drafts, and is open to modification. It is on the agenda for our next Una Voce meeting in 2 weeks.
