Dear All Latin Mass Community Leaders:

I received a report today about a suspicious “nun” in a black and white habit going by the name of Sister Monica Choi. The source has done some background investigation and has found that this woman’s former communities have indicated that she has been released from her vows. She now goes around the country seeking financial and other kinds of support. She seems to frequent the Latin Mass communities. Please be advised.

The following are the background notes submitted to UVSB:

Born 1949
in Buchon City, Korea

September 1971  joined Benedictines in Korea
dismissed 2-3 yrs. later

worked with Maryknoll orphanages bringing children to USA to be adopted
on her last trip over she stayed in USA

1980 entered Benedictines in Nebraska
made temporary vows
no final vows
vows expired

1986-1988  lived with relatives in California possibly San Jose

1988  Entered Adorers of the Precious Blood Portland, Oregon
1993  Perpetual Vows made

ALLEGATIONS OF POSSIBLE ABUSE OF ELDER NUN (PHOTOS WERE TAKEN) AND REPORTED BY FRIEND OF ELDER NUN TO PORTLAND OREGON DIOCESAN OFFICE.

PROCEDURE STARTED FOR SR MONICA CHOI’S TERMINATION OF VOWS

1994 OR 1995 Adorers of the Precious Blood sold Monastary to Vietnamese Order of Nuns.
The older nuns went to APB convent in New Hampshire
Monica Choi went to Alberta Edmonton for approx. 5yrs.

June 1999  Decree issued vows terminated
2000 dismissed APB

Monica Choi went to Japan and joined another order.

Just before the March 7 EF Mass at St. James in Perris, I was asked to address a group of young Confirmation candidates who were standing just outside the entrance of the church. The young man who was leading their studies for the evening stumbled upon the celebration of the Latin Mass five months ago and was immemdiately attracted to its beauty and reverence. So, he brought his class with him this evening. Unfortunately, it was for only half of the Mass, as the scheduled end of the class was during the Mass. So, I had to give an impromptu introduction to the history of the Latin Mass and why the language was in Latin. There was about fifteen of them.

Let us continue to pray for our young Catholics, that they may be given the grace necessary to combat the evils which they have to face day to day.

Sancte Aloysius Gonzaga, ora pro nobis!

Una Voce San Bernardino is donating 15 copies of For The Visitor At Mass (Angelus Press, 43 pages) by Fr. Richard Ginder to San Secondo D’Asti Catholic Church in Guasti, CA and 10 copies to the Latin Mass Community over at Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Adelanto, CA. This little booklet gives a brief explanation of the sights, sounds, and smells of the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite. It is a perfect resource for an introductory group study of the Traditional Latin Mass.

Dear All:

There are two groups forming, and looking for support, spiritually, physically, and as always, financially. Unfortunately, after the liturgical changes, many of the old church furnishings and vestments were sold, destroyed, or locked away and forgotten. As such, these newly forming communities will need help purchasing items for the proper celebration of the Extraordinary Form. Many of these items can be obtained at the links I have provided on the right side of this website.

  1. 1962 Altar Missal
  2. Missal Stand
  3. Ciborium with Stem Base and Cover
  4. Communion Patens
  5. Chasuble, Stole, Maniple, Chalice Veil, and Burse in the 5 liturgical colors
  6. Altar Candle Holder
  7. Amice

List for Extraordinary form petition

We, the undersigned or listed, are respectfully requesting the availability of the Extraordinary form of the Roman Rite locally, within a reasonable distance (within 5-15 miles) from our respective areas. We wish to remain active members of our respective parishes, but we also would like to have the extraordinary form made available to us. If this is successful, and it is made available or “personal parishes” are established, we also wish to help build it into a larger and more “stable” community, as per the criteria laid down in Summorum Pontificum.
