Dear Father Z,
After yesterday’s, February 21, 2010, TLM at San Secondo d’Asti Parish, Guasti, Ca, Una Voce San Bernardion handed out a pamphlet including their accomplishments in 2009. Among the many articles they reported that the Midnight Christmas Sung TLM at St. Catherine of Sienna Parish in Rialto, Ca, had 1,000 faithful in attendance. The count was reported by the Pastor, Fr. Stephen Porter.
My wife and I were in attendance and I knew that the church was packed. So many presented themselves for communion that toward the end Father was down to about 1/8 of a regular sized host per person. Father even hat to return to the altar and take a good portion of the large host that he used in Consecrating the body of Christ. It was obvious that the overwhelming attending had never been to a TLM.
I have been to many TLM’s in Ca. none have been anywhere close to a 1,000. I do not know if this normal in the rest of the USA.
So… how is your Mass attendance?

Please join us in prayer for John and his family. John’s livelihood was teaching piano, and this loving family has lived a humble life dependent on the Providence of our Dear Lord and their faith & trust in Him.

Please also pray for Gabriel Pierce, 18, who must have heart surgery asap (now postponed to perhaps early Sept.) to replace a heart valve.

Pope Benedict XVI celebrates Mass in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite in private, according to the head of the Society of St Pius X, Bishop Bernard Fellay. Speaking at a gathering in Brazil this month, Bishop Fellay also claimed that an unnamed Italian bishop had threatened to resign if the Pope ever celebrated the traditional Latin Mass in public.
According to Fellay, the Holy Father’s secretary, Mgr Georg Gänswein, also uses the 1962 Missal; Father Z suggests that the Pope may sometimes serve Mass for him (in the older form, he implies, though this isn’t clear).
The rumours that Benedict XVI says the old Mass in his own chapel have been circulating for a long time; just last week, a senior Westminster priest with strong links to the Vatican told me he had reason to believe them. But Fellay is on the record here and I don’t think he would make such a claim unless he knew it to be true.
This cheers me up. I’ve deliberately stuck the word “Tridentine” in the headline to this post because, although it’s been largely superseded by “Extraordinary Form”, I want to remind all those English liberals who are hastily reinventing themselves as fans of the Holy Father that he profoundly loves the Mass they spent decades sneering at – and indeed celebrated it publicly when he was head of the CDF.
As for the bishop who’ll resign if the Pope celebrates the old Mass in public, I think he should just go anyway, don’t you?
]]>I received a report today about a suspicious “nun” in a black and white habit going by the name of Sister Monica Choi. The source has done some background investigation and has found that this woman’s former communities have indicated that she has been released from her vows. She now goes around the country seeking financial and other kinds of support. She seems to frequent the Latin Mass communities. Please be advised.

Dear All,
Recently, Father said to me in passing that I was part of the restoration. We may not see the fruits of the restoration in our lifetimes, but simply to know we are working towards it. Ever since he said this, it has renewed my enthusiasm to continue promoting the Traditional Latin Mass. I believe the Traditional Latin Mass, as it is celebrated here at the Pope John Paul II Polish Center, has been one of the most spiritually fullfilling celebrations of this form I have been privileged to participate in. One feels at home here, and not a foreigner. One feels as if this liturgy has become normative here, and not just a side-show.
I encourage everyone who has a love of the Traditonal Form of the Roman Rite to take the trip to Yorba Linda for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in this truly Extraordinary Form.

7th Anniversary of Foundation of CRNJ (St. Micheal’s Abbey)

Dear Laurence,
We are going to have a very special Mass at Saint Michael’s Abbey on Saturday, June 12, starting at 10 AM for our 8th Anniversary of foundation. There will be a huge recpetion aftewards to which everyone will be invited.
This Sunday is Corpus Christi and we are going to have a very beutiful Mass at Yorba Linda with very solemn eucharistic veneration at the end. The Mass will start at 6:20 AM this Sunday as a result.
